Richard C. Bemis, 95, of Fostoria, Ohio died Saturday, August 24, 2019 at Birchaven Village, Findlay. He was born January 2, 1924 in Napoleon, Ohio to Gordon R. & Bessie May (Cramer) Bemis. He married Norma Jo Lambright August 31, 1946 in Greenup, KY, she died April 7, 2017.
Surviving are sons Michael Bemis of Fostoria, Steven (Marie) Bemis of Findlay, Terry (Cindy) Bemis of Jasper, Indiana, grandchildren Jeremy (Jamie) Bemis, Richard, Robert, Sean & Gabriel Bemis, Cassie (Shawn) Ward, great-grandchildren Drew, Kaleb, Kobey, Karsen, Lauren, Logan, Lyndee, Kyle, Christopher, Lance, Justin, Errin, Lindsay & Kevin,
great-great-granddaughter Audrey, step grandchildren Billie, Ann, Valarie, Lampert, step great-granddaughter Shyann.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brother James Bemis & daughter-in-law Marge Bemis.
Richard retired in 1987 from Atlas Crankshaft. He was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a U.S. Army Veteran during WWII, serving from June of 1943 to March of 1946 in the South Pacific.
He was also a 1943 Graduate of Fostoria High School, a member of the Fostoria American Legion & U.A.W. Local 336. Richard enjoyed woodworking, hunting, fishing, camping and golfing.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 29, 2019 at 12 p.m. at the
Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, Fostoria, Ohio with Chaplain Linda Davison officiating.
Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to12 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at Knollcrest Cemetery, Arcadia, Ohio with Military Honors performed by the United Veterans of Fostoria.
Memorials can be made to the Charity of the donor’s choice.
The Bemis family would like to thank Richard’s niece Linda Amerine for all the time she spent with her uncle.
