Rosemary Chalfin, 88, formerly of Fostoria, died Thursday, December 29, 2016 in Sandusky, Ohio.
She was born December 9, 1928 in Willard, Ohio to Selby and Marie (Bishop) O’Neill. She married Loren Chalfin on October 8, 1949 in Akron, Ohio.
She is survived by her husband, Loren Chalfin of Sandusky; daughter, Becky (Tom) Baker of Port Clinton; sons, Tom (Laurie) Chalfin and Jack Chalfin (Cheri), both of Perrysburg, and Bill (Annette) Chalfin of Westmont, IL; brothers, Tom (Sally) O’Neill and Pat (Ann) O’Neill; sister, JoAnn (Steve) Damko; 12 grandchildren; and 21 great grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Jim Chalfin; and brother, Dick O’Neill.
Rosemary was a retired nurse working in Lansing, MI, and Akron and Fostoria, Ohio. She is a 1946 graduate of Willard High School and received her degree in nursing from St. Thomas School of Nursing in Akron, OH.
Rosemary is a member of St. Wendelin Church in Fostoria as well as the OSU Presidents Club and a former member of the Fostoria Country Club. She was known as “Nonie” by her grandchildren, their friends and the staff at Providence Memory Care. She kept a drawer filled with candy for all who came to visit. She loved life, her husband, her Irish roots, her children and especially her grandchildren. Lake Erie was her special spot and she thrived on entertaining everyone who visited. She will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
Memorial Mass will be at a later date with burial in St. Wendelin Parish Cemetery, Fostoria.
